Job Overview:
The mission of Solidarités International (SI) in Chad and Cameroon, known as Tchameroun, was merged in 2021, with coordination based in Yaoundé. The mission comprises six departments: programs, SERA, grants, human resources, finance, and logistics, led by a director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director. SI Tchameroun operates in the regions of Lac, Ouaddaï, and Sila in Chad, as well as the Extreme-North region of Cameroon, with offices in N'Djamena and Yaoundé. The mission receives humanitarian funding from various sources and is currently engaged in emergency assistance projects, livelihood strengthening, and access to water, hygiene, and sanitation (EHA). The Baga Sola base, where the logistician will be stationed, is characterized by the presence of organized armed groups, inter-community conflicts, and the need for precise security checks for all movements in the field. The logistician will be responsible for implementing and supervising all logistical activities at the base, ensuring compliance with SI procedures and donor requirements, and supporting the development of logistical capacities within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The logistician is responsible for the implementation and supervision of all logistical activities at their assigned base. This includes organizing logistical support for programs in accordance with Solidarités International procedures and donor requirements. The logistician will propose improvements in logistics to enhance operational activities and assist the field coordinator in implementing security rules. They will serve as the primary contact for the field coordinator and logistics coordinator regarding all logistical matters in their intervention area. Specific duties include managing logistics autonomously, ensuring compliance with procedures, managing supplies, stocks, and equipment, negotiating with suppliers, and supporting the restructuring of the base based on donor feedback. The logistician will also handle administrative tasks related to vehicle documentation and budget tracking for logistics, as well as fuel management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in logistics and have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in a similar position. Technical skills required include comprehensive knowledge of all logistics fields, operational logistics related to EHA and SAME, and human resources management. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong reporting skills, the ability to enhance team competencies, and effective communication and collaboration in multicultural environments.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in logistics is required for this position. This educational background should provide the candidate with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to manage logistics effectively in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with specific experience in a logistics role. This experience should include managing logistics operations, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor procedures.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the local context. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract based in Baga Sola, Chad. The salary is competitive, starting at EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2100 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, and a monthly per diem of 450,000 CFA francs. SI also covers housing and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. During the mission, a work and leave rotation system is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, and necessary vaccinations and malaria treatments. Living conditions in Baga Sola are basic, with access to essential markets and limited leisure facilities. The logistician will have individual accommodation within the SI base, which is equipped with essential amenities.
