Job Overview: The Consortium Coordinator will work under the Deputy CountryDirector – Program and is responsible for providing overall vision, leadership, and guidance for two projects: the Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM) and the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) Consortium. This role involves close collaboration with program and support departments, serving as the key liaison with consortium partners and stakeholders. The Coordinator will ensure adherence to project objectives, performance requirements, and donor regulations while facilitating collaborative partnerships among consortium members. The position presents challenges such as leading two different projects with various partners and sectors, structuring a new Consortium Unit, and navigating a challenging operational environment. Initial priorities include setting up the Consortium Management Unit, revising the BHA Consortium strategy, and structuring program activities monitoring across partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consortium Coordinator will be responsible for strategic planning, coordination, and representation of the consortium. Key activities include overseeing project delivery and implementation, managing internal and external communications, and ensuring effective collaboration among consortium members. The Coordinator will also be tasked with preparing high-quality reports, presentations, and proposals, as well as monitoring project performance and compliance with donor regulations. Additionally, the role requires establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and ensuring that the consortium's vision is communicated effectively among diverse partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess high representation skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively represent the consortium in high-level forums, including interactions with donors and senior leadership from partner organizations. Strong project and financial management skills are essential, along with prior experience in leadership or coordination roles. The ability to communicate a common vision among diverse partners is crucial, as is experience in preparing high-quality reports and proposals. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to facilitate dialogue between consortium members and stakeholders.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in International Development, Social or Human Sciences, Project Management, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and practical skills needed for effective project management and coordination in a humanitarian context.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in leadership or coordination roles, particularly in humanitarian or development settings. Experience in managing projects related to Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Protection, Health, Nutrition, or security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) is highly desirable. Additional Notes: This position is a salaried role with a starting salary of EUR 3,080 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2,800 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Living conditions in N'Djamena are described as very good, with access to various restaurants and cafes, although field bases may present more basic living conditions.
