Job Overview:
As the Response Director for World Vision Iraq, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic, programmatic, operational, and resource leadership. Your responsibilities will include leading the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the organization's strategy aligns with its objectives and that World Vision Iraq is structured and resourced effectively. You will oversee the financial viability of the program and ensure compliance with World Vision policies and Disaster Management Standards. A key aspect of your role will be to ensure that the programs directly contribute to the sustained well-being of children in the region. Additionally, you will represent World Vision Iraq to external stakeholders, including donors, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, and local authorities, while strategically leading the implementation of all aspects of the program in accordance with World Vision's Partnership Strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the overall program in Iraq, ensuring alignment with World Vision's mission and objectives.
  • Lead the Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing strategies that meet the needs of vulnerable children and communities.
  • Ensure that the program is financially viable, compliant with policies, and adheres to Disaster Management Standards.
  • Represent World Vision Iraq in external engagements with donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage multi-million dollar budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, leading a multi-cultural team in a complex context.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and communities affected by crisis and displacement.

Required Qualifications:
  • A university degree or qualification in a relevant field, such as team management, organizational development, or project management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven senior leadership experience with international NGOs, particularly in emergency relief, rehabilitation, and transition programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-cultural teams in complex and politically sensitive environments.
  • Proven experience in managing and growing multi-million dollar budgets.
  • Strong political acumen and well-developed diplomatic skills for engaging with host governments, donors, and staff.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area. This educational background should ideally focus on areas such as team management, organizational development, project management, or other relevant skills that will support the responsibilities of the Response Director role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience within international NGOs, specifically in contexts related to emergency relief, rehabilitation, and transition programming. Candidates should have a proven track record of effectively leading teams and managing complex projects in challenging environments.

Languages:
