Job Overview:
The Junior Protection Analyst – Research and Advocacy plays a crucial role within the Protection Division (PxD) of IOM, focusing on donor reporting, analysis, and advocacy related to programmatic interventions in Iraq. This position is vital for supporting evidence-based protection advocacy through protection monitoring, which identifies the risks and needs of affected populations. The consultant will engage in research activities that utilize a mixed-method approach, contributing to advocacy efforts with key stakeholders such as government entities, development actors, and donor communities. The role involves producing protection monitoring reports and other related products, ensuring that the Protection Division's objectives are met effectively. The Junior Protection Analyst will also assist in managing the donor reporting portfolio, ensuring that reports are comprehensive and aligned with the requirements set forth by the Programme Support Unit (PSU).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Junior Protection Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: providing support to the Al-Amal Protection Monitoring work through proofreading, copy-editing, and fact-checking; conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis; coordinating with team members to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of products; contributing to thematic research on issues such as environmental migration, gender-based violence, and disability inclusion; maintaining knowledge-sharing products like thematic notes and policy briefs; analyzing data from field reports to support donor reporting; ensuring consistency in reporting inputs; and assisting with routine data management tasks. The consultant will also be expected to help the Protection Division deliver its regular monitoring, reporting, and research activities, with performance indicators including the production of six protection monitoring reports and five donor reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Forced Migration, Humanitarian Action, Human Rights, or a related discipline. Additionally, at least one year of experience in research, data analysis, protection monitoring, and advocacy within the humanitarian or development sector is required. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of producing high-quality analytical and written outputs, including concise reports and publications. Familiarity with the protection challenges faced by displaced populations in Iraq or similar contexts is essential, along with experience in donor reporting, data analysis, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as Forced Migration, Humanitarian Action, or Human Rights is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to understand the complexities of migration and protection issues.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in the humanitarian or development sector, specifically in research, data analysis, protection monitoring, and advocacy. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to work effectively and independently, particularly in remote or virtual environments, and should have experience in communicating with a variety of stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process, which could involve written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position may require travel, and any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. The appointment will also depend on the candidate's medical fitness for the role, as well as verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government. IOM provides coverage for consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational incidents.
