Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Assistant position is crucial for the effective functioning of the Warehouse and Commodity Management Section within UNMISS. The role is based in Juba, which is classified as a hardship and non-family duty station. The primary objective of the Supply Chain Assistant is to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of commodities to support UNMISS operations. This involves managing inventory, processing requests for goods, and maintaining accurate records of stock levels. The Supply Chain Assistant will work closely with the Warehouse Officer and other team members to enhance operational efficiency and ensure that all supply chain functions are carried out effectively. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: receiving and processing requests for goods, preparing pick lists and issue vouchers, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The assistant will also support the identification of stock levels, prepare various warehouse activity reports, and provide supervision and training to junior personnel. Additionally, the role involves tracking the consumption of expendable items, initiating write-off actions, conducting monthly stock takes, verifying inventory stock levels, and ensuring proper warehouse housekeeping. The Supply Chain Assistant will liaise with other staff regarding goods requirements and ensure database accuracy for stock movements. The position may also require submitting reports on warehouse activities to management and performing any other related tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Officer/Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Supply Chain Assistant position should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in inventory management systems and experience in warehouse operations are essential. The role requires a good understanding of supply chain processes and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication skills are also necessary to effectively liaise with various stakeholders within the mission.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for the Supply Chain Assistant position. Additional training or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is highly desirable. Candidates with relevant coursework or vocational training will be given preference.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or warehouse operations. Experience working in a humanitarian or international organization is an advantage. Familiarity with UN procurement and inventory management processes will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in South Sudan, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
