Job Overview:
The Management Specialist to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) plays a critical role in supporting the CFO's office by providing senior-level coordination, advisory, and executive decision-support. This position is essential for ensuring the effective functioning of the CFO Office and the implementation of key decisions. The incumbent will work closely with the CFO and the Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) leadership to manage strategic planning, engagements, and executive workflows. The role involves identifying bottlenecks and dependencies, escalating issues that require CFO attention, and supporting the CFO in advancing financial, administrative, and operational priorities. The Management Specialist will also be responsible for preparing high-quality strategic briefs, policy notes, and decision papers for the CFO's engagements with senior management and other stakeholders. This position requires a strong understanding of financial stewardship, institutional accountability, and corporate governance within an international organization context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Management Specialist include coordinating and managing the CFO Office’s strategic planning and executive workflow, leading the CFO’s support team, and managing the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on CFO Office’s priorities. The incumbent will assess incoming matters for strategic significance and urgency, support the CFO in preparing for senior-level discussions, and translate follow-up from high-level engagements into clear direction for DFA leadership. Additionally, the Management Specialist will provide analytical, advisory, and decision-support services to the CFO, coordinate the development of strategic briefs and decision papers, and anticipate emerging institutional issues that may require CFO intervention. The role also involves supporting the execution of CFO-led strategic priorities, coordinating corporate and intergovernmental engagements, and strengthening executive governance and institutional memory within the CFO Office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, economics, international development, social sciences, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in strategic coordination or executive office support, including experience in financial or operational management, corporate governance, and institutional planning. Candidates should have experience coordinating complex, cross-functional processes involving senior-level engagement and providing advice and decision-support to senior officials on complex institutional matters. Strong drafting and communication skills for senior-level audiences are essential, as well as experience in leading and managing personnel in international settings.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, economics, international development, or social sciences. A first-level university degree may be accepted in combination with additional qualifying experience, demonstrating the candidate's capability to fulfill the role effectively.

Experience:
The Management Specialist position requires a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as strategic coordination, executive office support, financial management, and corporate governance. Candidates should have a proven track record of coordinating complex processes that involve senior-level engagement and providing high-quality decision-support to senior officials. Experience in leading teams and managing personnel in international contexts is also necessary, along with familiarity with the workings of the United Nations system or other international organizations being desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's profile.
