Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Intergovernmental Affairs Senior Analyst include:
Preparation of Executive Board sessions: Support the preparations for both formal and informal meetings of the Executive Board, including logistical arrangements. Prepare Chair’s notes and procedural documentation in accordance with the Board’s working methods. Draft and edit internal communications as necessary. Maintain a centralized repository of Executive Board decisions and track pending actions related to these decisions. Develop a tracking system for Member States' positions on Board-related matters. Facilitate preparations for Joint Boards activities, including drafting agendas, summaries, and other necessary documentation.
Documentation functions: Facilitate the preparation, review, and submission of official UNOPS Executive Board documentation, including reports and information notes. Liaise with relevant focal points to collect and consolidate required documentation, ensuring timely publication on the UNOPS website. Assist in producing notes and summaries, draft decisions, and other reporting on Board sessions.
Engagement in intergovernmental fora: Monitor major UN events and maintain a calendar of relevant events, focusing on ECOSOC and the General Assembly. Prepare briefing notes and background materials to support senior management engagement with Member States. Provide protocol and coordination support for UNOPS events at the UN, including official luncheons and bilateral meetings.
Knowledge management and institutional learning: Develop and maintain content on the Executive Board and intergovernmental fora for the UNOPS intranet and external website. Provide feedback on existing systems and support the development of standard operating procedures and guidance materials.
Team building and collaboration: Foster a collaborative team environment by promoting open communication and knowledge-sharing. Support team cohesion by facilitating the exchange of information and contributing to joint initiatives.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Intergovernmental Affairs Senior Analyst position include a Master’s degree in international affairs, law, political science, communication, economics, business administration, or related fields. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience is acceptable.
