Job Overview:
The Junior Policy and Legislative Research Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment (IMC) in Jordan. This position involves conducting focused research and analysis on legislative and policy issues that arise from the IMC's work. The consultant will be responsible for providing timely and relevant evidence and analysis to inform policy discussions and reforms. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government institutions, the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW), and other relevant entities. The consultant will be expected to produce concise research briefs, background notes, and analytical materials that address specific policy questions and support the IMC's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include conducting targeted desk research on specific policy and legislative questions, reviewing relevant Jordanian legislation and policies, and preparing analytical materials for the IMC. The consultant will also facilitate communication and coordination between the IMC and JNCW, ensuring that relevant research and evidence are shared effectively. Responsibilities encompass maintaining regular communication with JNCW counterparts, identifying and sharing relevant research, and supporting technical briefings and consultations. The consultant will be expected to produce various analytical products, including research briefs, policy notes, and presentations, to inform decision-making processes within the IMC.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in public policy, public administration, law, political science, economics, social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. At least one year of professional experience in policy research, legislative research, or related fields is required, along with demonstrated experience in conducting desk research and policy analysis. Familiarity with gender equality and women's empowerment issues, as well as experience working with government institutions or research organizations, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as public policy, law, political science, or gender studies is required for this position. Candidates with a first-level university degree and additional qualifying experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a strong foundation for understanding policy and legislative processes, particularly in the context of gender equality and women's empowerment.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in areas such as policy research, legislative analysis, or gender equality initiatives. Candidates should have a proven track record of conducting desk research, preparing analytical briefs, and reviewing legislation or government strategies. Experience working with government institutions or national organizations is preferred, as is familiarity with the Jordanian policy and legislative environment.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with stakeholders and produce high-quality research outputs.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is office-based, requiring a full-time presence at the IMC Chair's Office in Amman. Local travel within Jordan may be necessary for meetings and consultations.
