Job Overview:
The Senior Driver position at UNESCO is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of the Director of the Office, UNESCO staff, officials, and visitors. This role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, as the driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in excellent condition and adhering to all safety protocols. The Senior Driver will also assist with airport pickups, facilitate customs formalities, and ensure that the vehicle is always ready for field trips. The position demands a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, including keeping accurate logs, arranging for repairs, and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements related to vehicle operation. The driver will also be expected to perform basic clerical duties as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the office operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Driver will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: driving the Director and other authorized personnel safely and reliably; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and assisting with visa and customs formalities; ensuring the vehicle is well-maintained through regular checks and timely repairs; keeping accurate vehicle logs; ensuring the availability of necessary documents and supplies in the vehicle; reporting accidents accurately and promptly; assisting with the use of communication devices in the vehicle; delivering and collecting mail and documents as required; and performing basic clerical tasks such as photocopying and filing. The driver must also be prepared to respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with safety protocols at all times.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary, technical, or vocational education and possess a valid category B driving license held for more than five years. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate vehicle maintenance skills and have a solid understanding of automotive mechanics. They must also have excellent knowledge of Chilean traffic laws and regulations, as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The role requires efficiency, discretion, and keen observation skills, along with a flexible approach to meet service needs.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes a completed secondary education, technical training, or vocational education. A valid driving license is also mandatory, with a preference for candidates who have held this license for over five years.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of work experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization or diplomatic mission. Experience with customs procedures and protocol is also desirable, as is familiarity with defensive driving techniques.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken, is essential for this position. Basic knowledge of English is also required, as it may be necessary for communication with international staff and visitors.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of two years, with the possibility of renewal. The role is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those eligible to work in Chile may apply. UNESCO offers a competitive salary, starting at approximately CLP 20,378,000.00 annually, along with benefits such as 30 days of annual leave, family allowances, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
