Job Overview:
The Portfolio Management Consultant will play a crucial role in the Portfolio Management Division, overseeing a diverse portfolio of loans, bonds, and guarantees for private sector and non-sovereign-guaranteed infrastructure and energy clients in the Southern Cone. This position involves monitoring projects from signature to final repayment, ensuring compliance with financing agreements, and mitigating risks associated with the portfolio. The consultant will engage with various stakeholders, including borrowers and co-investors, and will be responsible for preparing performance assessments and presentations for both internal and external audiences. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying industry developments and recommending actions to enhance portfolio performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will support Portfolio Management Officers by overseeing a portfolio of financial instruments, conducting thorough data gathering and analysis to assess counterparty performance, and ensuring compliance with financing agreements. Responsibilities include performing financial statement analyses, preparing risk rating proposals, and generating periodic supervision reports. The consultant will also monitor ongoing developments in relevant sectors, engage with various stakeholders, and prepare tailored materials for presentations. Additionally, the consultant will ensure adherence to IDB Invest's internal risk policies and collaborate with various departments to propose improvements to internal processes. Other tasks may be assigned as needed to support the Portfolio Management Division and the ICT Department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Development Studies, or related fields. A minimum of two years of experience in credit assessment or rating of financial intermediaries or corporate counterparts is required, preferably within a commercial, investment, or development bank. Familiarity with the operational work of IDB Invest or similar multilateral institutions, along with sector knowledge in relevant industries, is essential. Experience in an international environment, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or Development Studies is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the financial and operational aspects of the role and for effectively managing the portfolio of loans and guarantees.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in credit assessment, financial analysis, or related fields. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the financial sector, particularly in relation to corporate counterparts and financial intermediaries. Experience within a commercial, investment, or development bank is preferred, as is familiarity with the operational dynamics of multilateral institutions.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Spanish and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this role. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and clients across the region.

Additional Notes:
This is a national consultant position based in Santiago, Chile, with a full-time contract lasting 36 months, extendable up to 48 months based on eligibility. Candidates must be eligible to work in Chile without requiring sponsorship from IDB Invest.
