It collaborates closely with departments and divisions at FAO Headquarters to develop and promote strategic responses to regional challenges. The RLC also monitors the implementation of programs and projects, identifies issues, and fosters relationships with regional institutions, including Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). This office is pivotal in facilitating policy dialogue, forming regional partnerships, and enhancing capacity development and resource mobilization efforts in the region.

Job Overview:
The Human Resources Assistant position is designed to support a wide range of human resources transactions and functions within the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. The incumbent will perform routine tasks that are essential for the effective operation of the human resources department. This role involves providing guidance and advice on the application of HR policies, rules, and procedures, ensuring that sound human resources practices are upheld. The Human Resources Assistant will work under the supervision of the Human Resources Officer and the Human Resources Associate, with a focus on quality and independent handling of routine matters. The position requires interaction with various colleagues and clients to ensure efficient delivery of HR services, making it a vital role within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including: reviewing and responding to standard requests and inquiries regarding human resources matters; providing information from office files and databases; assembling and reviewing documentation for processing HR actions related to recruitment, staffing, organizational design, and staff development; assisting in the recruitment process by preparing vacancy announcements and communicating with applicants; organizing and coordinating talent management programs; maintaining personnel and position management files, ensuring all documentation is complete and confidential information is updated; compiling and archiving human resources statistical data for internal and external use; drafting routine correspondence and assisting in the preparation of administrative reports; supporting briefings and debriefings; and taking notes during meetings. The incumbent may also be required to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR services provided.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: a secondary school education is essential, along with three years of relevant experience in administrative and/or human resources support work. A working knowledge of English at proficiency level C is mandatory, and candidates should possess good IT skills, particularly in MS Office applications and office technology equipment. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of Chile or possess a valid visa or work permit to be eligible for this position, as General Service Staff are recruited locally.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position is a secondary school education. This foundational level of education is necessary to ensure that candidates have the basic skills and knowledge needed to perform the administrative and human resources support tasks effectively.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least three years of relevant experience in administrative and/or human resources support work. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of human resources functions and for effectively supporting the HR team in various tasks and responsibilities.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English at proficiency level C is mandatory for this position. Additionally, having a working knowledge of Spanish at the same proficiency level is considered a strong asset, as it enhances communication and interaction within the regional office and with local stakeholders.

The role is full-time, and candidates must reside within commuting distance of the duty station in Santiago, Chile.
