Job Overview:
The Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) position within the World Bank Group's Water Department Front Office is designed to support the implementation of critical initiatives related to Water Forward and the WBG Knowledge Bank. The consultant will play a vital role in providing analytical, research, coordination, and communications support to enhance performance monitoring, knowledge management, and water quality reporting. This position is integral to the Water Department's efforts to strengthen water security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security through strategic leadership and collaboration with various teams and stakeholders. The ETC will report directly to the WBG Water Global Director and will be involved in coordinating closely with regional and global teams, global leads, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of Front Office priorities across the Water Global Practice portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) include:

• Supporting the implementation of Water Forward and the delivery of WBG Water Department Front Office priorities, which encompass corporate reporting, strategic communications, management engagement, and coordination across teams.
• Assisting in the coordination of WBG Knowledge Bank technical review processes, which involves tracking review timelines, outreach to contributing practices, managing comment submissions, and ensuring quality assurance workflows.
• Contributing to the development of tools and systems for tracking Water Forward implementation and performance indicators, including the preparation of dashboards, analytical summaries, and progress reports.
• Supporting the preparation of presentations, briefing materials, talking points, management updates, and other products for senior leadership and external engagements.
• Tracking and analyzing water quality-related activities across the Water GP portfolio and conducting research on operational trends, emerging issues, and good practices to inform management decision-making.
• Undertaking analytical, research, reporting, and coordination assignments in support of Front Office priorities and strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong set of qualifications, including a demonstrated ability to conduct analytical and research work, excellent communication skills, and experience in project management. The candidate should possess a solid understanding of water security issues and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools is essential, along with the capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively. The ideal candidate should also have experience in stakeholder engagement and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) position should have a relevant educational background, typically including a master's degree in a field related to water resources management, environmental science, public policy, or a similar discipline. A strong academic foundation in quantitative and qualitative research methods is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the principles of sustainable development and water governance.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, typically at least 5 years in roles related to water management, development consulting, or a similar field. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on projects that involve water security, policy reform, or knowledge management. Experience in international development organizations or similar environments is highly advantageous, as is familiarity with the operations of the World Bank Group and its initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the World Bank Group.
