Job Overview: The National ProjectCoordinator will oversee the implementation of the GCF-funded project titled 'Carbon Sequestration through Climate Investment in Forests and Rangelands (CS-FOR)'. This role involves coordinating project activities to ensure alignment with the logical framework, annual work plans, and budget. The coordinator will manage day-to-day project operations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among project partners, stakeholders, and local authorities. The position requires a strong focus on natural resource management, climate change mitigation, and adaptation, as well as the development of value chains and project coordination. The coordinator will also be responsible for reporting on project progress and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Project Coordinator will supervise and coordinate project activities, ensuring they align with the logical framework and annual work plans. Responsibilities include managing the project on a day-to-day basis, facilitating communication among partners, and ensuring adherence to the project’s work plan. The coordinator will handle logistics for project workshops, develop terms of reference for consultants, monitor project expenditures, and prepare annual work plans and budgets. Additionally, the coordinator will provide training to operational partners, conduct oversight missions, and prepare progress reports for various stakeholders, including government ministries and donor agencies. The role also involves acting as Secretary of the National Project Steering Committee and coordinating the development of progress reports in consultation with monitoring and evaluation specialists.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Forestry, Agriculture, International Development, Environment, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in climate change-related projects is required, particularly in coordinating complex development programs with multiple stakeholders. Strong organizational and facilitation skills are essential, along with the ability to produce high-quality analytical and strategic reports. Candidates must be nationals of the Kyrgyz Republic and have a working knowledge of English, with proficiency in Russian and Kyrgyz considered an asset.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Forestry, Agriculture, International Development, Environment, Social Sciences, or Public Administration is mandatory for this position. The FAO only recognizes higher educational qualifications obtained from accredited institutions listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in climate change-related projects. Candidates should have experience coordinating complex development programs involving multiple stakeholders, including government institutions, UN agencies, civil society, and private sector actors. Experience in producing high-quality analytical and strategic reports is also essential.
