Job Overview: The Conformity Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with internal practices and promoting effective internal controls within the organization. This position supports audits and due diligence processes while assisting various departments in implementing recommendations and mitigating risks. The Conformity Manager is expected to have a thorough understanding of the organization's operations and to work collaboratively with different teams to enhance compliance and risk management. The Conformity Manager will also be involved in training staff on compliance matters and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Conformity Manager's duties include supporting annual audit planning based on risk analysis, conducting audits of the organization, processes, projects, and selected documents, and following up on audit findings and compliance reviews. The role also involves coordinating the Country Office's preparation for external audits, reviewing expenditure supporting documents, and preparing risk matrices. The Conformity Manager participates in audit meetings, supports staff and partners in audit preparation, and assists with the selection of external audit firms. Additionally, the position entails leading partner due diligence and screening, monitoring risk mitigation measures, conducting partner audits, and supporting partner capacity strengthening. The Conformity Manager is responsible for tracking the implementation of audit and compliance recommendations, ensuring proper filing and archiving in line with SI procedures, and preparing internal and partner audit reports. The role also includes promoting internal audit and control standards through training, providing advice on strengthening internal controls, and ensuring the implementation of HR policies within the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Law, Risk Management, or related fields. Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is preferred, with CPA or CMA also being appreciated. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and at least 5 years in a similar position. Previous experience with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) is essential, along with advanced knowledge of donor guidelines such as ECHO, OCHA, and DOS. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software are required, as well as experience in internal controls testing and risk management.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields such as Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Law, or Risk Management. Additional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CPA, or CMA are highly regarded and can enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: The Conformity Manager should have a substantial level of experience, specifically 3 to 4 years in the humanitarian sector and at least 5 years in a similar role.
