Job Overview: The Vocational Training Instructor for Sheet Metal will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of vocational training programs aimed at equipping Palestine refugees with the necessary skills for employment in the sheet metal industry. The instructor will be responsible for developing learning programs and curricula, conducting occupational and competency analyses, and integrating new technologies into the training. The position requires the instructor to facilitate both school-based and work-based learning, ensuring that training venues are properly set up and that inclusive training plans are prepared. The instructor will also be responsible for assessing students through formative and summative assessments, maintaining linkages with employers, and applying quality assurance measures throughout the training cycle. Additionally, the instructor will support initiatives related to greening and digitalization in vocational training, collaborate with other staff members to maintain a respectful learning environment, and implement co-curricular activities. Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of learning programs and curricula, including conducting occupational and competency analyses, drafting program profiles, and integrating career guidance into learning programs.
Facilitate the delivery of school-based and work-based learning programs, including setting up training venues, preparing inclusive training plans, and monitoring learning in various settings.
Prepare and conduct student assessments, including formative and summative assessments, and develop assessment sheets and implementation plans.
Maintain linkages with employers and TVET instructors, collect labor market information, and conduct skills needs assessments to identify gaps in training programs.
Apply quality assurance tools and processes in accordance with UNRWA's TVET Quality Assurance Framework.
Support greening and digitalization initiatives in vocational training, integrating relevant skills into training courses.
Collaborate with other instructors to coordinate teaching and learning processes, maintain order and discipline, and implement co-curricular activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have successfully completed full secondary education along with two years of post-secondary technical education or training in mechanical engineering. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the UN core values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity. Functional competencies such as planning and organizing, applying technical expertise, creating and innovating, following instructions and procedures, and relating and networking are essential for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary education and two years of post-secondary technical education or training specifically in mechanical engineering. Additional Notes: This position is a daily paid assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The daily rate for this position is $25.63, and the salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Candidates must reside in Syria and be within commuting distance of the duty station, with authorization to work in Syria at the time of application. UNRWA will not facilitate work permits, and candidates must have valid work authorization. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity.
