Job Overview: The Private Sector Engagement for Women's Economic Empowerment National Consultant will play a crucial role in the management and implementation of the Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI) in the Arab States region. This initiative aims to increase women's employment by 5% by 2030 through innovative partnerships with the private sector, government, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The consultant will focus on enhancing decent employment opportunities for women by improving gender-responsive workplaces and fostering transformative partnerships. The role involves aligning UN Women’s engagement with the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and ensuring that the implementation of these principles is effectively managed within the Jordan Chapter of the flagship initiative. The consultant will report to the Women’s Economic Empowerment Specialist and coordinate with the Regional Office for Arab Countries to achieve the initiative's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the national implementation of the private sector pillar under the Jordan Chapter of the flagship initiative. Key responsibilities include leading the rollout of WEPs components, developing and managing roadmaps and annual work plans, building strategic partnerships for women’s employment, coordinating day-to-day implementation with various stakeholders, and expanding private sector engagement through outreach and recruitment plans. The consultant will also develop training materials, provide advisory support to companies, and facilitate linkages between the Gender Seal process and WEPs advisory support. Additionally, the consultant will support coordination between the Jordan Chapter and regional initiatives, prepare for the annual UN Women Arab States Private Sector Forum, and ensure coherence in approaches and reporting on WEPs principles.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, international collaboration, social sciences, or other relevant fields. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires strong knowledge of women’s economic empowerment, WEPs, and private sector partnerships for gender equality and women's empowerment. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, networking abilities, and the capacity to develop and roll out training and advisory sessions for private sector enterprises.
