Job Overview: The Senior security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Associate G7 position at WFP is designed to lead and coordinate the activities of the security team, ensuring alignment with business needs and the implementation of recommendations for process improvements aimed at securing WFP staff, facilities, and operations. The role involves analyzing security threats and risks, producing comprehensive reports, and ensuring that information is accurately collated for senior staff review. The Senior Security Associate will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, overseeing staff activities during field missions, and providing technical expertise on security risk management matters. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, ensuring compliance with United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) standards, and developing measures to improve security protocols and training for staff. The role is critical in maintaining a safe and secure environment for WFP operations and personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analyze security threats and risks, producing comprehensive reports on trends and situations that could adversely impact WFP operations.
Analyze various security-related information and use management tools to produce complex analyses and in-depth reports.
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including local administration and law enforcement, to facilitate safe program delivery.
Oversee and coordinate staff activities during field missions, ensuring security assessments are performed according to WFP standards.
Analyze security assessment reports and devise measures for risk mitigation.
Provide advice and technical expertise on security risk management matters in compliance with UNSMS.
Oversee the implementation of risk management mitigation measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
Manage security equipment and strengthen technology capacity in line with business needs.
Ensure effective access control procedures are followed by all staff and visitors. 1
Develop and implement measures for improving emergency and contingency planning documentation. 1
Design, plan, and deliver security training to staff based on feedback and business needs. 1
Supervise and provide on-the-job training to other staff to support their development and high performance.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Additionally, they should have seven or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relevant business stream, with a focus on general administrative work. The ideal candidate will have supported elements of projects and operational activities that maintain security operations functions, provided expert technical guidance and training to staff members, and supported the collation of data, analysis, and drafting reports that inform security operations activities.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of security management principles and practices.
Experience: The position requires seven or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relevant business stream. Candidates should have experience in general administrative work and a proven track record of supporting security operations functions, providing technical guidance, and managing security-related projects.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and reporting within the diverse and multicultural environment of WFP.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is fixed-term for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. The role is based in Amman, Jordan, and is considered a full-time position.
