Job Overview:
The Logistics Associate - Food Quality and Safety position is crucial for ensuring that WFP's food assistance operations meet the highest standards of safety and quality. The role involves supporting the implementation of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) activities across various operations in Jordan, which include in-kind distributions, cash-based transfers, and school feeding programs. The Logistics Associate will be responsible for conducting field monitoring, inspections, and data collection to ensure compliance with FSQA policies and procedures. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including suppliers, retailers, and national authorities, to guarantee that safe and quality food reaches beneficiaries. The Logistics Associate will also play a key role in incident reporting, supplier follow-up, and capacity strengthening initiatives, contributing to WFP's mission of providing effective humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Associate will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing operational and technical inputs to support the application of WFP FSQA policies and standards in country office operations.
• Conducting routine monitoring visits to warehouses, food production facilities, kitchens, and distribution sites to verify compliance with FSQA requirements.
• Assisting in the implementation of food safety and quality monitoring programs by collecting samples and inspection data.
• Supporting supplier assessment and verification activities, including documentation review and site inspections.
• Investigating and reporting food safety incidents, beneficiary complaints, and quality deviations.
• Reviewing and maintaining operational records related to food safety and hygiene.
• Organizing laboratory testing activities and tracking analytical findings.
• Providing technical support to partners and stakeholders on FSQA procedures.
• Participating in audits and inspections conducted by WFP or external parties. 1
• Compiling and analyzing operational data to support reporting of FSQA indicators. 1
• Supporting training sessions and capacity strengthening initiatives for WFP staff and partners. 1
• Contributing to emergency preparedness and response activities requiring FSQA support.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a combination of education and experience to qualify for this position. A secondary school education is required, while a university degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Public Health, or a related field is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in food safety, quality assurance, or supply chain operations. Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and compliance checks is essential, along with the ability to collect and analyze operational data. Strong coordination and communication skills are necessary to effectively advise partners and stakeholders on technical requirements.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary school education as a minimum. A university degree in fields such as Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Public Health, Nutrition, Veterinary Sciences, or Quality Assurance is highly desirable and will enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in areas such as food safety, food quality, food production, regulatory inspection, or supply chain management. Experience in conducting inspections, monitoring visits, and compliance checks is crucial. Candidates should also have experience working with food manufacturers, warehouses, and humanitarian programs, particularly in emergency or time-sensitive operational environments.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a Service Contract at the SC-6 level, with a duration of 12 months. The role is based in Amman, Jordan, and may require regular field travel to various locations, including suppliers, warehouses, and distribution sites.
