Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Data Scientist include providing analytics products through data science techniques, conducting analytical studies to support decision-making, advising divisions on operational data management, and ensuring alignment with NATO policies. The incumbent will work with NCIA data engineers, contribute to data science analysis trials, and support the identification of requirements for NATO’s data exploitation program. Additional responsibilities include leading data collection and analysis processes, developing robust data visualization tools, and undertaking work as part of project teams. The role may also involve performing similar duties elsewhere within the organization and undertaking temporary duty assignments as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in information technology, economics, statistics, operations research, or a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with Higher Secondary education and advanced vocational training in a related field must have 4 years of post-related experience. Essential qualifications include a minimum of 4 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, proficiency in data science tools, and experience with programming languages such as Python and data visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with large and complex data sets are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a University Degree in a relevant field such as information technology, economics, statistics, or operations research. Candidates with a PhD or Master’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, operational research, data science, or data analytics are preferred. Professional qualifications or accreditations in these fields are also desirable, along with participation in NATO training and exercises.

Experience:

The position may require temporary duty assignments and deployments in support of military operations, with the possibility of exceeding 30 days in duration.
