Job Overview: The Manager for Community Relations and Production plays a crucial role within the Communications Directorate at HQ JFCNP. The incumbent acts as the principal assistant and senior advisor to the Public Affairs Advisor (PAA) and assumes the role of Chief Public Affairs Officer in the absence of the PAA. The position requires the generation of media products aimed at both international media and the general public, as well as the preparation and updating of public affairs briefings for visitors. The Manager will also oversee the distribution of press releases and other public affairs products, ensuring that the command's messaging is clear and effective. This role is integral to maintaining the command's public image and fostering positive relationships with the community, which directly impacts the command's ability to fulfill its mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent's duties include serving as the principal assistant and senior advisor to the Public Affairs Advisor (PAA), acting as Chief Public Affairs Officer in the PAA's absence, and managing all aspects of community relations and internal communication functions. Responsibilities also encompass maintaining relations with media, local government, educational institutions, and local business and professional leadership groups. The Manager will assist in distributing press releases and other public affairs products, supervise the development of public affairs contributions to HQ workflow, and generate products aimed at international media and the general population. Additionally, the incumbent will prepare and conduct public affairs briefings for visitors, propose promotional items for the PAA, screen incoming correspondence and documents, assign responsibility for command group taskers, enforce organizational deadlines, and manage the PA office's administrative functions. The role also involves overseeing the branch budget, tracking expenditures, and ensuring proper distribution of funds. The Manager will direct and oversee internal information and community relations in coordination with media relations, and undertake project team responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a University Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, along with four years of post-related experience. Alternatively, candidates with Higher Secondary education and advanced vocational training leading to professional qualification or accreditation, combined with five years of post-related experience and two years of function-related experience, will also be considered. Proven experience in producing news releases, media products, and press briefing materials is essential, as is broad experience in conducting press conferences and responding to media inquiries. Candidates should have strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate sound solutions to complex problems in the public affairs domain.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a University Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. A Master's Degree in Public Relations or a related field is desirable. Candidates should also have completed NATO courses such as the Staff Orientation Course and Public Affairs Policy Indoctrination, which are beneficial for understanding NATO's operational context and public affairs strategies.
Experience: Candidates should have a proven track record of professional experience in a military public affairs environment, particularly in a joint multinational setting. Experience in multimedia production and deployment in support of military operations is also advantageous. The role requires familiarity with military organizations and operations, as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with a proficiency level of SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing). The ability to communicate in Italian, the host nation language, is also required. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing community relations and engagement.
Additional Notes: The successful candidate will be offered a three-year definite duration contract, which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract. The position is classified at NATO Grade G-17, with a basic entry-level monthly salary of Euro 7,246.22, subject to allowances based on eligibility and deductions for pension and medical insurance contributions.
