Job Overview: The Deputy CountryDirector will play a crucial role in supporting the Country Director in the overall management and strategic direction of the country program. This position involves overseeing program implementation, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards in all interventions. The Deputy Country Director will also be responsible for representing ACF in external meetings and fostering partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The role requires a strong focus on capacity building for local staff and ensuring that the organization's mission and values are upheld in all activities. Additionally, the Deputy Country Director will contribute to the development of new project proposals and strategies to enhance the impact of ACF's work in Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Country Director in the overall management of the country program, including strategic planning and implementation of projects.
Ensure that all programs are implemented in accordance with ACF policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
Monitor and evaluate program performance, providing guidance and support to program managers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Represent ACF in meetings with government officials, donors, and other stakeholders, advocating for the needs of vulnerable populations.
Support the development of new project proposals and funding opportunities, ensuring alignment with ACF's strategic objectives.
Facilitate capacity building initiatives for local staff, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration among different departments within the organization.
Participate in the recruitment and training of new staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in a senior management role within an international NGO, preferably in a humanitarian context.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management position within the humanitarian sector is required. Experience in program development and implementation in challenging environments is essential, along with a proven track record of successful team leadership and capacity building.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local staff and stakeholders. Additional languages relevant to the region are a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and based in Port Sudan. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.
