Job Overview:
The UNFPA Internship Program is designed to provide outstanding students with direct exposure to the organization's work, particularly in the areas of youth and communication. This internship lasts for a period of four months and is structured to complement academic studies with practical experience. Interns will work under the supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Programme Associate, assisting in the implementation of youth-focused communication activities. The role includes developing training materials, supporting outreach initiatives, and documenting lessons learned from various programs. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in meetings and trainings, enhancing their skills and understanding of UNFPA's mission and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the planning and coordination of youth-focused programs, trainings, campaigns, and events; contributing to the development of training materials, presentations, reports, and other program documents; assisting in organizing meetings, workshops, and consultations; supporting communication and outreach activities, including social media content creation and event promotion; preparing communication materials about UNFPA activities; documenting lessons learned and success stories; participating in trainings and meetings organized by UNFPA; and performing other program-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for the UNFPA internship program, applicants must meet specific qualifications. They must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program or in the final year of a first university degree program, or have recently graduated. Preferred fields of study include Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, International Development, and other related disciplines. Applicants must also possess strong communication skills, research and analytical abilities, and a keen interest in UNFPA's work. While professional work experience is not required, prior experience in internships or volunteering is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program or in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Fields of study that are preferred include Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Strategic Communication, Digital Media, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Health, and Gender Studies. Recent graduates who meet these criteria and can start the internship within one year of graduation are also eligible to apply.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for the internship, applicants are encouraged to have prior experience through internships or volunteer work, which can enhance their application. The internship is designed for students and recent graduates, focusing on providing them with practical experience rather than requiring extensive prior work history.

Languages:
Applicants must have an intermediate to upper-intermediate level of English, as well as full working proficiency in Russian and Uzbek. These language skills are essential for effective communication and outreach activities within the UNFPA Uzbekistan Country Office.

Additional Notes:
The internship is set to start on September 1, 2026, and lasts for four months. Interns do not receive a salary but may receive a stipend of 257.40 USD per month to help cover basic living expenses. It is important for interns to have medical insurance for the duration of their internship, as UNFPA does not provide this coverage.
