Job Overview: The primary objective of the position is to support the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, Field Coordinators, and base managers in managing security and humanitarian access. The Coordinator will participate in information collection, context analysis, and the establishment of appropriate procedures. Additionally, the role involves training and raising awareness among teams regarding security management and humanitarian access. The Coordinator is a key player in managing security crises, ensuring that SI maintains its operational capacity and humanitarian access while optimizing security measures. The position is crucial for SI to remain a frontline actor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Duties and Responsibilities: The Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
Conducting contextual analysis to inform security management strategies.
Developing and implementing security management procedures tailored to identified risks.
Training staff on security and access management protocols.
Supporting field missions both remotely and in-person, prioritizing based on directives from the Country Director.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of existing security management systems.
Engaging with internal and external networks to enhance security measures.
Managing security incidents to ensure they do not adversely affect SI's operational presence.
Maintaining a strong understanding of the security landscape in the DRC, particularly in volatile regions.
Collaborating with local communities to foster acceptance and support for SI's operations. 1
Adapting security measures in response to evolving conditions on the ground.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree related to the field and have at least 5 years of professional experience in the field and/or in coordination roles. A minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with 2 to 3 years in a similar position. Technical skills required include mastery of security management concepts and tools, understanding of humanitarian access and acceptance principles, and knowledge of International law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Humanitarian Law. Candidates should also have experience advising on AHS aspects and the ability to conduct training sessions on these topics.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in humanitarian contexts, particularly in security management and access facilitation.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 to 4 years in the humanitarian sector and 2 to 3 years in a similar role. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of security management in complex environments and have experience working in politically unstable regions.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, while proficiency in English is also required. Knowledge of additional languages such as Swahili or Alur is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

The role is based in Goma, DRC, where the security situation is categorized as level 4, indicating a high-risk environment. The salary is competitive, starting at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 800 is provided. SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. During the mission, a work and leave alternation system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as repatriation costs. Vaccination and malaria treatment expenses are reimbursed. Living conditions include accommodation in guesthouses with private rooms and bathrooms, access to varied and quality food, and opportunities for recreational activities. Security rules are adaptable based on the context, with curfews that may change according to the area.
