Job Overview:
The Senior Technician (Digital Communication Services) position is based in Izmir, Turkey, and plays a crucial role in transforming NATO's IT services to support its Digital Endeavour. The successful candidate will be part of the CSU Izmir team, responsible for providing end-to-end Communication and Information Systems (CIS) services. This role involves installing, operating, maintaining, and supporting a wide range of CIS capabilities during peacetime, crises, and wartime. The technician will follow established design patterns to create new designs for systems, resolve design issues, specify technical configurations for networks, and ensure that software modules meet defined criteria. The position also includes managing AV infrastructure for digital meetings and events, ensuring excellent customer service and communication throughout the process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Follow standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for simple systems or system components.
  • Identify and resolve minor design issues.
  • Specify the technical configurations and components required for a small network or a network segment in a more complex infrastructure.
  • Adhere to organizational architectures and standards.
  • Define the software modules needed for an integration build and produce a build definition for each generation of the software.
  • Accept completed software modules, ensuring they meet defined criteria.
  • Produce software builds from software source code for loading onto target hardware.
  • Carry out agreed network maintenance tasks and specified operational configuration of network components.
  • Establish and diagnose network problems/faults using required troubleshooting methodologies and tools. 1
  • Set up and manage the AV infrastructure for digital meetings and events, including equipment setup, streaming, and recording. 1
  • Write, plan, and execute a full AV implementation plan in alignment with customers, providing excellent customer service and communication.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with at least 2 years of post-related experience, or a secondary educational qualification with 4 years of post-related experience.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining core network architecture for large organizations.
  • Experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware/software networking elements.
  • Adequate communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have either higher vocational training in a relevant discipline or a secondary educational qualification. The former should be accompanied by at least 2 years of relevant experience, while the latter should have at least 4 years of relevant experience. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the field. This experience should include designing, implementing, and maintaining core network architecture for large organizations, as well as configuring and troubleshooting networking hardware and software. The candidate should also have experience in managing AV infrastructure for digital communications.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and spoken forms. This proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
