Job Overview:
The Grants Manager position is a critical role within the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team at Solidarités International, reporting directly to the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator. The primary responsibility of the Grants Manager is to ensure accountability to donors and effective management of grants throughout the project cycle. This includes strategic contributions to the mission's development, proactive identification of funding opportunities, and oversight of high-quality proposal and report submissions. The Grants Manager must ensure compliance with donor procedures, build staff capacity regarding donor compliance and accountability, and maintain rigorous follow-up on contractual obligations from contracting to closure. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to various donor guidelines and deadlines, as well as the ability to align various teams and stakeholders to create cohesive and accurate project documents. In the first month, the Grants Manager will support the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator in developing proposals and responding to donor feedback, while also training and supervising the Reporting and Communication Officer in their daily tasks and reporting deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Ensure accountability to donors and effective grants management across the project cycle.
  • Work closely with program and support teams at both coordination and field levels.
  • Contribute strategically to the mission's development and proactively identify funding opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals and reports to donors.
  • Ensure compliance with donor procedures and build staff capacity on donor compliance and accountability.
  • Maintain rigorous follow-up on contractual obligations from contracting to closure.
  • Support the development of various proposals and responses to donor feedback.
  • Train and supervise the Reporting and Communication Officer in their daily tasks and reporting deadlines.
  • Align various teams and stakeholders to ensure consistency in proposal development and manage diverse inputs to create cohesive project documents. 1

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of EU/ECHO, AFD, GFFO, SDC, UHF/UN, and other donor rules and regulations.
  • Good knowledge and practice of project cycle management.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively represent SI at forums and with donors.
  • Leadership skills and a sense of coordination.
  • Innovative, structured, and solutions-oriented approach to challenges.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of grants management and compliance within the humanitarian sector.

Experience:
The Grants Manager position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 1 year in a similar role. This experience is crucial for understanding the dynamics of grant management, donor relations, and the operational challenges faced in humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of French is considered an asset, as well as proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian, which would be beneficial for communication within the local context.

Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting on August 15, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, which is currently under a security level 2 out of 5 according to SI grading. The organization offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of EUR 700 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation costs and travel expenses. Expatriates benefit from an insurance package that covers healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. The living conditions include guest house accommodations, internet access, and social life opportunities. Regular breaks are implemented during the assignment, with a system of alternation between work and time off.
