Job Overview: The Reporting & Communications Officer (RCO) will work under the supervision of the Grants Manager and is primarily responsible for producing and synthesizing high-quality reports and communication materials for external distribution. The RCO will gather and disseminate contractual documents and key guidelines from SI and donors at the mission level. This role requires close coordination with the Grants Manager and various program and support teams to ensure efficient internal communication. Given the sensitive nature of external communication in the current environment, the RCO will also help design and implement a more ambitious communication strategy aimed at external audiences and donors. The position is critical in ensuring that all reporting and communication efforts align with donor guidelines and deadlines, while also managing diverse inputs to create cohesive project documents.
Duties and Responsibilities: The RCO will lead and coordinate the review of partner reporting, both international and national, and will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and submitting interim and final reports to donors such as AFD, ECHO, and CDCS. The RCO will follow up on donor feedback for previously submitted reports and ensure that communication materials are published in compliance with donor guidelines. Additionally, the RCO will optimize the archiving and internal dissemination of communication products, improve and implement a communication strategy, coordinate a photojournalist field visit under the ECHO project, launch procurement for a graphic artist for a 2D video, maintain fluid communication with donors' communication focal points, and oversee the production of a 4-episode podcast. The RCO will also support the Grants Manager and Grants and Partnership Coordinator on grant-related subjects, including proposal development and contract management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law. They should have excellent writing skills and prior experience in writing humanitarian project proposals and reports, as well as producing quality communication deliverables. A first-hand understanding of donors such as DG ECHO, CDCS, AFD, SDC, or CPBF-OCHA is essential. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to manage inter-departmental coordination effectively. Candidates should demonstrate oral and written communication skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work in a multicultural context, as well as a high level of rigor in their work.
Educational Background: A degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or international law is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the international relations context in which SI operates.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in writing humanitarian project proposals and reports, as well as experience in producing communication materials. Familiarity with donor guidelines and the ability to manage inter-departmental coordination are also important. Experience in a humanitarian context, particularly in reporting and communications roles, will be advantageous.
Languages: Professional fluency in spoken and written English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication within the local context and with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting from September 15, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and offers a salary starting from EUR 2035 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 1850 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of EUR 700 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation costs and travel expenses. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs, as well as essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatments. Living conditions include guest house accommodations, internet access, and social life opportunities.
