Job Overview: The Communications and External Relations Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA Ukraine's donor communications and visibility efforts. This position is designed to enhance the communication of donor-funded programs while ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements. The Associate will work closely with various teams to strengthen partnerships, advocacy, and resource mobilization through strategic communications. The role requires a proactive approach to managing communications products and ensuring alignment with UNFPA's branding standards. The Associate will be responsible for planning and implementing donor-focused communications activities, coordinating the production of various communications materials, and maintaining tracking systems for donor communications. This position is vital for ensuring that UNFPA's work is effectively communicated to stakeholders and that donor requirements are met, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Supporting the planning and implementation of donor-focused communications and visibility activities in collaboration with program, communications, and external relations teams.
Coordinating the production of donor-facing communications products such as stories, press releases, newsletters, factsheets, multimedia content, and visibility materials.
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with donor branding, visibility, and communications requirements throughout program implementation.
Maintaining donor communications tracking systems, dashboards, and databases, and contributing to donor reporting and external relations products.
Coordinating with program teams, implementing partners, consultants, and service providers to ensure timely delivery of communications products.
Performing other communications and external relations duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies, Linguistics, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in communications, donor communications, external relations, public relations, journalism, partnerships, advocacy, or related fields. Experience in producing communications products such as human-interest stories, press releases, newsletters, web stories, social media content, and donor visibility materials is essential. Familiarity with donor visibility and branding requirements, particularly in the context of international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, or humanitarian/development partners, is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent writing, editing, coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies, or Linguistics is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and external relations work within the context of UNFPA's mission and objectives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in communications, donor communications, external relations, public relations, journalism, partnerships, advocacy, or related fields. This experience should include a proven track record of producing high-quality communications products and managing communications processes effectively. Candidates should also have experience working with donor visibility and branding requirements, particularly in the context of international organizations or NGOs.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and audiences.
