Job Overview: The Associate Programme Management Officer will be located in the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) for Ukraine, reporting to the Senior Mine Action Advisor. The role involves conducting basic research on mine action programs and operations in Ukraine, including the collection, analysis, and presentation of statistical data from various sources. The officer will provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, contributing to the preparation of written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and sections of reports. The position also entails providing administrative and substantive support for meetings and conferences, developing training workshops, and participating in field missions. The officer will coordinate budget-related activities and monitor the implementation of grants and other activities for the RCO and UNMAS, while maintaining strong working relationships with national mine action authorities in Ukraine.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: conducting research on mine action programs and operations; providing support for policy coordination and evaluation functions; preparing various written outputs, including reports and publications; supporting consultative meetings and conferences; undertaking outreach activities and developing training workshops; participating in field missions; coordinating budget funding activities; monitoring implementation of grants; and maintaining relationships with national mine action authorities. The officer will also perform other duties as required, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, environmental studies, sustainable development, international relations, public administration, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with relevant qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts, and approaches relevant to the mine action sector, as well as the ability to analyze and resolve issues, develop data collection sources, and conduct independent research and analysis.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as business administration, management, economics, environmental studies, sustainable development, international relations, or public administration is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted if combined with relevant experience.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Additionally, at least one year of experience specifically in mine action or a related field is necessary to qualify for this position.
Languages: English and Ukrainian are required as the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat for this position. Proficiency in English and Ukrainian at UN Level II is mandatory. Knowledge of Russian is desirable, but not required.
