Job Overview: The WPSHA Programme Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, implementation, and management of UN Women interventions under the Women, Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Action (WPSHA) programmes. This position involves working closely with the Regional Crisis Response Specialist and the regional WPSHA Programme Specialist, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders, including country offices, UN Women HQ staff, multi and bi-lateral donors, and civil society organizations. The analyst will contribute to the development of programme strategies, provide technical support for programme implementation, and ensure effective management of resources and partnerships. The role requires a strong understanding of the intersection between gender, peace, and humanitarian action, and the ability to influence and drive initiatives that enhance women's leadership and participation in peace processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The WPSHA Programme Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Contributing to the development of programme strategies in the area of Women, Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Action.
Providing substantive inputs to the design and formulation of programme/project proposals and initiatives.
Identifying areas for support and intervention related to the programme.
Offering technical support for the implementation and management of Germany and Japan funded programmes.
Leading the implementation of programme activities, including organizing regional events, workshops, and consultations.
Coordinating the call/request for proposals and organizing technical review committees.
Reviewing and monitoring the submission of financial and narrative reports from implementing partners.
Training partners on Results Based Management and monitoring implementation.
Developing technical knowledge products and maintaining relationships with national partners. 1
Monitoring progress of implementation activities and drafting reports on programme results. 1
Providing inputs to resource mobilization strategies and preparing relevant documentation for funding opportunities. 1
Supporting inter-agency coordination on Gender in Humanitarian Action and providing secretariat functions for the Regional Gender in Humanitarian Action Working Group. 1
Coordinating advocacy activities, campaigns, and knowledge management methodologies related to WPSHA.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification, such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®, is considered an added advantage. Candidates should possess strong programme formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as good knowledge of Results Based Management. The ability to gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions, and present findings is essential. Additionally, candidates should have good analytical skills and knowledge of women, peace, and security, particularly regarding women's participation in peace processes.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification is a plus.
Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in Women, Peace, and Security and Gender in Humanitarian Action is desirable. Candidates should also have experience coordinating with government agencies and/or donors, as well as proficiency in using computers and office software packages. Familiarity with web-based management systems and experience working in the Arab States Region are also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic or French, is considered desirable.
