Job Overview:
The Safeguards Information Analyst plays a crucial role in the IAEA's nuclear verification mission. This position involves conducting comprehensive analyses using various sources of safeguards-relevant information available to the Department of Safeguards. The analyses performed by the Safeguards Information Analyst are integral to the preparation of annual State evaluation reports, which assess the compliance of member states with their nuclear obligations. The role requires a combination of leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources, including open-source data, scientific literature, and technical reports. The analyst will lead divisional teams in State evaluations, ensuring that information is processed efficiently and disseminated effectively within the department. Additionally, the analyst will develop strategies for open-source and knowledge management, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the IAEA's safeguards efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safeguards Information Analyst is responsible for a variety of key functions, including: collecting, analyzing, and reporting on information for designated States; reviewing scientific and technical information sources relevant to the verification mission; providing expert analysis in the form of analytical reports; developing open-source and knowledge management strategies; participating in departmental working groups; presenting analytical findings; developing new analytical methodologies; leading and mentoring staff in information collection and analysis; and participating in project teams to develop new software tools for information processing and assessment. The analyst must maintain a close working relationship with inspectors and other partners in the Operations divisions to ensure effective planning and execution of field activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a Master's Degree preferred. A first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. The position requires a minimum of seven years of experience in nuclear non-proliferation or safeguards information collection and analysis, or in nuclear fuel cycle-related research. Candidates should have a strong background in multi-source analysis and the ability to integrate disparate analyses into cohesive analytical products. Experience in analyzing proliferation risks associated with globalization and knowledge of export controls or customs activities related to nuclear items is advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in sciences such as physics or chemistry, technology fields like nuclear or mechanical engineering, or other relevant areas related to non-proliferation studies and analysis. An advanced university degree is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of the technical and scientific principles underlying nuclear safeguards and verification processes.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of seven years in the field of nuclear non-proliferation or safeguards information analysis. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in the development of analytic methodologies and processes, as well as advanced knowledge in information management and analysis. Experience in assessing nuclear programs and proliferation activities based on comprehensive data analysis is essential.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
