Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an international organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons. Established in 1957, the IAEA works with its member states and multiple partners worldwide to promote safe, secure, and peaceful nuclear technologies. The organization has a diverse workforce of approximately 2,500 employees and operates in over 170 countries, focusing on various areas including nuclear safety, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and the application of nuclear science and technology for sustainable development.

Job Overview:
The IAEA internship program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience in line with their academic studies or interests. Interns will gain exposure to the work of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. This specific internship focuses on isotope hydrology research, particularly the application of multi-tracer techniques in freshwater studies. Interns will be involved in data management, statistical analysis, and the use of geospatial software for data visualization, primarily ArcGIS and QGIS. The internship aims to enhance the intern's knowledge and skills in hydrological isotope applications and scientific reporting, contributing to the IAEA's mission of supporting member states in sustainable development through nuclear techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to contribute to team brainstorming sessions focused on multi-tracer applications. They will document relevant information, procedures, methods, and findings systematically for use in project reports and publications. Interns will perform statistical analysis on isotopic data and utilize statistical tools and software such as R or Python for data modeling and analysis. They will summarize findings in reports and create visual representations using ArcGIS and QGIS to illustrate surface and groundwater flow patterns. Additionally, interns will develop visual tools to depict multi-tracer data distribution across study areas and generate dynamic and interactive visualizations for presentations and publications.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geology, or a related field. They should be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
