Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) offers a unique opportunity for final-year undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain direct exposure to UNDP's work in international development and multilateral cooperation. The intern will primarily assist with operations and administration tasks, which constitute 85% of the role. This includes preparing financial and accounting documents, maintaining the Centre's email and calendar, coordinating meetings, and providing technical support for internal digital tools. The remaining 15% of the role involves supporting other ad hoc activities as needed. The intern will be expected to engage actively in the Centre's initiatives, contributing to the implementation of its programmatic works and facilitating knowledge exchanges related to the SDGs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting in the preparation of financial and accounting documents.
Maintaining the Centre’s email, calendar, and contact list, as well as managing publications and promotional items.
Arranging appointments and meetings, including the maintenance of protocol procedures.
Coordinating information flow within the office and organizing on/off-line team meetings.
Preparing informal translations and providing interpretation as needed.
Administering procurement and supply management, as well as assets management.
Offering technical support in the development and maintenance of internal digital tools.
Coordinating events involving interns, including mandatory training and other activities.
Screening incoming calls and correspondence, and arranging worldwide telephone and video conferences. 1
Organizing workshops and conferences in collaboration with other staff members. 1
Supporting international participants with travel and logistics matters. 1
Contributing to the Greening UNDP initiatives as a task force team member. 1
Designing, writing, editing, and proofreading the team’s working documents. 1
Providing comprehensive support to the Director and other teams with all aspects of USPC’s office operations as needed. 1
Performing a wide range of operations and administration tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (master’s or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Have recently graduated with a university degree, starting the internship within one year of graduation.
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Additionally, candidates should possess knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools, and familiarity with Adobe products (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes fields of study such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or equivalent disciplines. Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic foundation relevant to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should exhibit a demonstrated interest in international development and multilateral cooperation. Experience in administrative and operational tasks will be beneficial, as the intern will be expected to support various operational functions within the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Korean is required for this position. Knowledge of additional UN languages is considered an advantage, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse international environment.
Additional Notes: The internship is unpaid, but a monthly stipend of KRW 1,169,728 will be provided in accordance with UNDP's internship policy. Interns are responsible for their own expenses related to travel, accommodation, and subsistence. They must also obtain necessary visas and health insurance. Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility may be allowed for educational commitments. They will accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month and will receive off-days on official UN holidays in South Korea. Interns are not eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in UNDP during their internship period.
