Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) offers a unique opportunity for final-year undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain direct exposure to UNDP's work in international development and multilateral cooperation. The intern will engage in various programmatic activities, including supporting project conceptualization and facilitation in collaboration with UNDP and Korean partners. The role involves drafting policy briefs, conducting research, and facilitating partnerships between UNDP and the Republic of Korea. Additionally, the intern will assist in the development of digital tools, contributing to their refinement and documentation. This internship is designed to provide practical experience and technical knowledge in the field of international development, particularly in areas related to digital transformation and aid effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist with a variety of duties, including:
  • Programme Activities (45%): Supporting the conceptualization and facilitation of projects in collaboration with UNDP and Korean partners, drafting idea and concept notes, conducting research, organizing meetings and events, drafting policy briefs, facilitating partnership-building efforts, managing project tracking tools, and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Digital Tool Development (45%): Assisting in the conceptualization and development of digital tools, contributing to UI/UX reviews, and producing product manuals and documentation.
  • Other Tasks (10%): Supporting administrative tasks, updating office calendars, annual work plans, and results frameworks, and completing ad hoc activities as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program, be in the final year of a first university degree program, have recently graduated with a university degree, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program. Familiarity with project management, development cooperation, and digitalization is desirable, along with experience in writing analytical pieces. Proficiency in using digital tools such as Zoom is preferred, and prior experience with the multilateral system or bilateral donor agencies is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a background in fields such as development studies, international relations, economics, politics, computer science, data science, or other relevant areas. The internship is open to those who are currently enrolled in relevant degree programs or have recently graduated.

Experience:
The position requires familiarity with project management and issues related to development cooperation and digitalization. Experience in writing analytical pieces on relevant topics is highly desirable. While prior experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory for applicants.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Korean is required. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for the internship.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, but a monthly stipend of KRW 1,169,728 will be provided. Interns are responsible for their own expenses, including travel and accommodation. They must obtain necessary visas and health insurance. The internship is full-time, with flexibility allowed for educational commitments. Interns will accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month and will receive off-days on official UN holidays in South Korea. Interns are not eligible for employment with UNDP during the internship period and must adhere to UNDP's standards of integrity and non-discrimination.
