The intern will primarily assist in the Governance and Gender Programme, contributing to research, document production, and event organization related to governance and gender issues. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, allowing interns to engage with critical development challenges and contribute to meaningful projects that align with the UNDP's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, primarily supporting the Governance and Gender Programme activities, which will constitute 90% of their duties. Key responsibilities include conducting preliminary research and assisting in the production of documents such as reports, web materials, and presentations on governance and gender topics. The intern will document and translate Korea's policy tools for knowledge exchange, propose creative communication materials, and support the organization of partnership meetings and events. Additional tasks include translating and editing publications, copy-editing documents, and providing administrative support for day-to-day office operations. The remaining 10% of the role will involve supporting other ad hoc activities as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program, be in the final year of a first university degree program, have recently graduated with a university degree, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in international organizations and governance, possess excellent analytical skills, and be detail-oriented with strong administrative capabilities. The ability to handle complex situations and work independently or collaboratively is essential.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a background in social sciences, particularly in fields such as international development, international relations, political science, human rights, gender studies, public administration, or communications. This educational foundation will provide the necessary context for understanding the UNDP's work and the specific challenges faced in governance and gender issues.
Experience: While prior experience is not explicitly required, candidates should demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge through their academic background or previous internships. The internship is expected to be full-time, although flexibility may be allowed for educational commitments. Interns will accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month and will receive official UN holidays off.
