Job Overview: The National Consultant on Women’s Political Participation Community Support will provide expert and advisory support for the development of a community of trained women leaders, ensuring their participation and representation in all spheres of public life. This role is crucial in the context of Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction efforts, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges faced by women and girls due to the war. The consultant will work under the guidance of the UN Women Programme Specialist and the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst. The consultant's responsibilities will include maintaining a platform for women leaders trained under the She Leads Ukraine initiative, supporting women's political participation activities, and providing analytical support, monitoring, and reporting on community development progress. The consultant will play a key role in promoting women's leadership and political participation, contributing to the empowerment of women in Ukraine and addressing the barriers they face in decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the platform of women leaders trained under the She Leads Ukraine initiative, advising on strategic ways to support the community platform for networking, upskilling, and experience exchange. This includes administering the platform, onboarding new participants, identifying learning needs, increasing visibility of women leaders, and documenting success stories.
Provide support for women’s political participation activities, including organizing events, facilitating learning sessions, and developing training materials. The consultant will coordinate communication with participants and stakeholders, promote mentoring initiatives, and support peer-to-peer exchange among women leaders.
Provide analytical support, monitoring, and reporting, including preparing analytical briefs, collecting feedback from participants, and monitoring community development progress. The consultant will maintain records of community members and activities, preparing regular reports and insights for the program team.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Political Sciences, Public Policy and Administration, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of progressive professional experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment, with proven experience in coordinating partnerships on gender equality and women’s leadership. Experience in preparing policy papers on gender equality and knowledge of the Ukrainian context regarding women's political participation are strong assets. Previous experience with development agencies and the United Nations, particularly with UN Women, is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Political Sciences, Public Policy and Administration, Social Sciences, Law, or related disciplines. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of gender equality and women's empowerment in the context of Ukraine's political landscape.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of progressive professional experience in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in coordinating partnerships focused on gender equality and women's leadership, as well as experience in preparing policy papers related to these topics. Familiarity with the Ukrainian context regarding gender equality and women's political participation is considered a strong asset, along with previous experience working with development agencies and the United Nations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, participants, and partners involved in the initiatives aimed at enhancing women's political participation and leadership in Ukraine.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is primarily home-based but may require occasional travel to training locations within Ukraine, contingent upon obtaining security clearance. The position is part-time and may involve flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of the community of trained women leaders.
