Job Overview: The Cash and Markets Database Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing, maintaining, and enhancing the cash program database and digital platform. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and secure data processing, which includes overseeing data intake, quality control, protection, and reporting. The Coordinator will work closely with program and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) teams to ensure compliance with data management standards. The role also involves contributing to the development of tools and procedures that facilitate efficient information management, thereby supporting NRC's mission to provide effective assistance to those in need. The Coordinator will be expected to leverage their technical expertise to improve data systems and processes, ensuring that NRC's cash assistance programs are data-driven and responsive to the needs of beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Cash and Markets Database Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing and improving the NRC cash database and digital platform; supporting the development and implementation of cash data systems, including procedures and tools; overseeing the digital cash assistance open application system; ensuring timely and reliable data management in accordance with data protection policies; conducting data quality control to maintain data consistency and integrity; providing technical guidance and capacity building to teams and partners; developing and maintaining data visualization tools; preparing internal and external reports; identifying opportunities for improving information management processes; overseeing the digital Open Application platform; building and updating forms using XML or Xform for Kobo toolbox; creating and maintaining documentation for data manipulation scripts; building and running Python or R scripts for data collection; managing self-check tool back-end; developing data pipelines; performing regular backups and disaster recovery testing; liaising with software service providers; implementing data quality assessments; conducting activity reporting; and ensuring alignment with data protection policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Data Management, or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role is required, along with experience managing large databases. Candidates should have a deep understanding of Python, SQL, relational databases, and Excel, with the ability to use SQL for database management and analysis. Documented results related to the position's responsibilities are essential, as is experience with facilitating and leading internal organizational processes. Familiarity with data collation tools such as Kobo and ODK is preferred, along with fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Data Management, or analytics. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of data management and analysis that the role demands.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role, particularly in managing large databases. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with data systems and processes, demonstrating their ability to handle complex data management tasks effectively. Experience in backend or data engineering, as well as familiarity with data modeling and analysis tools, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, although English is the primary language of communication within the organization.
