Job Overview:
The Economic intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Affairs Intern position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in the field of economic affairs, particularly in relation to sustainable development and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Interns will work full-time, five days a week, under the supervision of experienced staff members within the Section on Sustainable Development and Countries in Special Situations. This section focuses on supporting least developed countries, landlocked developing countries, and small island developing states. Interns will engage in various tasks that contribute to the Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership Report and the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, enhancing their understanding of policy development and capacity building in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: assisting in data collection, compilation, and analysis for the Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership Report; conducting background and preliminary research for reports; developing data work and analytical knowledge products to support training and capacity development initiatives; providing logistical support for meetings and events organized by the section; updating related websites with relevant materials; and supporting the team in day-to-day activities and tasks as required. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects while gaining valuable insights into the workings of the United Nations and sustainable development efforts.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and must commence the internship within one year of graduation. No prior professional work experience is required for participation in the UN Internship Programme, making it accessible for students and recent graduates.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as economics, international relations, development studies, or a related discipline. The internship is particularly suited for those who are in their final year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in a graduate program, as it provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a practical setting.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in economic affairs and sustainable development. Relevant academic projects, volunteer work, or internships in related fields may enhance an applicant's profile, but are not mandatory for consideration.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.

This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week over a duration of 4 to 6 months.
