Job Overview: The Digital Communications Officer will play a vital role in enhancing the CTBTO's digital communications strategy. This position is situated within the Office of the Director in the Legal and External Relations Division. The officer will be responsible for developing and executing digital communication initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and support for the CTBT and the activities of the Preparatory Commission. The role requires a creative approach to conceptualizing and delivering various digital communication products, including videos, infographics, and interactive presentations, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: The Digital Communications Officer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Supporting the implementation of the CTBTO's digital communications strategy to enhance awareness and engagement regarding the Treaty and the organization's activities.
Conceptualizing and delivering a variety of digital communication products, ensuring that all content aligns with the strategic goals of the Commission.
Utilizing advanced analytic tools to analyze data and audience engagement across CTBTO's digital platforms, providing recommendations for content optimization and audience targeting.
Maintaining and developing the CTBTO website, coordinating with external contractors for technical updates and content changes.
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure coherence in digital communications and support the development of digital products.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of digital communications activities, contributing data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
Keeping abreast of social media trends and emerging technologies relevant to the organization's work.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of the Legal and External Relations Division.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or a related field. They should have experience in website and social media audience analysis, as well as in developing and implementing digital communications strategies. Proficiency in search engine optimization for websites is required, along with a strong ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. Experience in monitoring and evaluating communications outreach activities is essential, as is familiarity with managing content on Drupal-based websites. Experience in scientific or technical international organizations, particularly in the field of non-proliferation and disarmament, is desirable.
Educational Background: A university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of digital communications within an international context, particularly in relation to the CTBTO's mission and objectives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, which should include progressively responsible roles in public information, journalism, or international relations. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully contributing to digital communications strategies and possess experience in audience analysis and reporting, particularly in the context of social media and website management.
Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this role. Knowledge of other official CTBTO languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered desirable and would enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed Term Appointment at the P-3 grade level, with a reporting date as soon as possible.
