Job Overview:
The Director position at NRC USA is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's operations in Washington DC. The Director will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations governing tax-exempt non-profits while representing NRC at high levels with various stakeholders. This role involves building and strengthening relationships with government counterparts, institutional donors, peer INGOs, foundations, corporate partners, and the media. The Director will lead NRC USA's fundraising efforts, focusing on both institutional and private donors, and will be instrumental in enhancing NRC's humanitarian impact through strategic resource mobilization and advocacy efforts. The position requires a proactive leader capable of navigating complex political landscapes and fostering collaboration among diverse teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will carry out a range of leadership and management duties, including organizing Board meetings, developing agendas, overseeing governing documents, and ensuring adequate reporting to the Board. The role involves efficient management of human and financial resources, ensuring compliance with national, state, and city regulations, and monitoring evolving risks that may affect NRC USA. The Director will develop and implement strategic work plans and budgets, manage core staff, and foster a high-performing team culture. Responsibilities also include maintaining and increasing funding for NRC's humanitarian response, advocating for improved financing conditions, and ensuring compliance with US tax and reporting requirements. The Director will represent NRC in the humanitarian community, engage with media, and contribute to global advocacy efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or higher in social science, politics, law, economics, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of progressively senior leadership experience, particularly in the humanitarian or development sector, is required. Strong leadership and management skills, along with a thorough knowledge of humanitarian policy and principles, are essential. Proven success in fundraising and donor relations, particularly with government and private donors, is necessary. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with highly developed analytical abilities, are also required. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive leadership style and possess solid experience in developing institutional strategies and managing budgets.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as social science, politics, law, or economics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the political landscape in which NRC operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 10 years of progressively senior leadership experience, ideally within the humanitarian or development sectors.
