Job Overview:
The Executive Support and Coordination Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective functioning of the Representative’s Office at OHCHR Liberia. This position involves providing comprehensive administrative, coordination, communication, and substantive support to the Representative. The incumbent will manage the Representative's schedule, coordinate meetings and travel arrangements, and ensure that the Representative is well-prepared for all engagements. Additionally, the role includes supporting strategic communication and reporting functions, which are vital for the visibility and effectiveness of the office's operations. The position requires a proactive approach to managing projects and deadlines, as well as the ability to draft important documents and reports that contribute to the office's mission of promoting human rights in Liberia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Support and Coordination Officer include: assisting the Representative in meetings with UN and non-UN partners, managing and coordinating the Representative's calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements, providing support in managing projects and deadlines, coordinating high-level visits and field missions, drafting briefing notes, talking points, and strategic documents, managing internal visibility on OHCHR's intranet, drafting monthly statistics on human rights violations, coordinating media monitoring programs, conducting daily media monitoring, compiling information for weekly reports, and contributing to the internal and external visibility of OHCHR Liberia activities through social media management and event coverage. The role also involves administrative support tasks and ensuring smooth communication within the Representative's office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Executive Support and Coordination Officer position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Professionalism and accountability are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively within a team. The role requires sound judgment and decision-making capabilities, particularly in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with human rights issues and the workings of the United Nations system is highly desirable, as is experience in administrative support and coordination roles.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, human rights, political science, or a related discipline is required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in human rights or international law would be advantageous and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in administrative support, coordination, or a similar role, preferably within an international organization or a non-governmental organization focused on human rights. Experience working in a multicultural environment and familiarity with the UN system will be considered an asset. The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality is also crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of the United Nations. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in Liberia or the West African region, would be considered a valuable asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders and partners.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Monrovia, Liberia, and may involve occasional travel within the country for field missions. The role is full-time, and candidates must complete the United Nations Basic security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security course (BSAFE) prior to joining the office. The current UN security level for Liberia is level 2, and all UN staff are required to follow security recommendations from the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).
