Job Posting Organization:
The position is located within the Department of Operational Support (DOS), specifically in the Division of Special Activities (DSA), Support Partnerships Service (SPS) Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP). The DOS is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of peacekeeping operations through support and coordination of various activities. The organization aims to foster partnerships and improve operational capabilities across member states involved in peacekeeping missions. The DOS operates globally, engaging with multiple countries to ensure the successful implementation of peacekeeping mandates and initiatives.

Job Overview:
The Associate Programme Officer plays a critical role in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of various programs related to peacekeeping and peace operations. This position involves extensive collaboration with Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs), Police Contributing Countries (PCCs), and other stakeholders to ensure that training programs and operational strategies are effectively developed and executed. The officer will be responsible for analyzing deployment data, preparing reports, and identifying issues that may arise during program implementation. The role also includes conducting research, providing technical support for policy coordination, and facilitating high-level workshops and meetings. The Associate Programme Officer will engage in outreach activities to mobilize resources and support for training initiatives, ensuring that the programs align with the strategic goals of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Programme Officer will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: facilitating the development and evaluation of specialized training programs; monitoring and analyzing deployment data; preparing relevant documents and reports; conducting research and presenting data; providing support for policy coordination and evaluation functions; planning and facilitating workshops; participating in survey initiatives; preparing written outputs such as background papers and analytical notes; supporting consultative meetings and conferences; undertaking outreach activities; coordinating budget-related activities; and performing other duties as required. The officer will also be responsible for translating data into reports and presentations for various stakeholders, including UN senior officials and Member States delegates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) with two years of relevant work experience may be accepted. Additionally, candidates must hold a PRINCE2 Practitioner or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The role requires a strong understanding of peacekeeping operations and the ability to manage complex projects effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if accompanied by two years of relevant work experience. Candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination or similar competitive examinations may also be considered with a first-level university degree and no experience.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in donor relations, resource mobilization, and program implementation within a peacekeeping context is required. Experience in data analysis and business intelligence approaches for decision-making is desirable. Candidates should also have experience in coordinating donor negotiations, managing grants, and preparing financial statements. Relevant experience within the UN system or comparable international organizations is essential, along with experience in developing outreach content for social media and drafting materials for senior leadership.

Languages:
English and Spanish are required for this position, with a proficiency level of UN Level III in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered desirable, with a proficiency level of UN Level II. Candidates must demonstrate strong language skills to effectively communicate and engage with diverse stakeholders.
