The position is located within the Operations Unit (OU) of the Broadcast and Conference Support Section (BCSS) under the Regional Service Management Service (RSMS) of the Operations Support Division (OSD) at the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations. Job Overview:
The Broadcast and Conference Operations Technician is responsible for providing technical support in managing the installation, repair, and maintenance of broadcast-related audio, video, conference, and network appliances. This includes equipment such as Congress Microphone and Simultaneous Interpretation systems, as well as various audio-visual and transmission systems. The incumbent will work closely with supervisors to prioritize daily tasks and ensure that all necessary services and personnel are available for meetings and conferences. The role requires interaction with various stakeholders, including senior management and technical staff, to ensure effective broadcast and conference operations support. The technician will also assist in data collection and analysis, contributing to knowledge management and decision-making processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Broadcast and Conference Operations Technician include: providing technical support for the installation and maintenance of broadcast-related equipment; setting up work priorities for daily assignments; assisting in periodic system testing and maintenance; troubleshooting hardware and software issues; ensuring the availability of services for meetings; monitoring voting processes; producing monthly activity reports; preparing engineering drawings; and assisting with workflow analysis. The technician will also be involved in large projects, analyzing user requests, and supervising installations by vendors. The role requires frequent interaction with various departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, they should have extensive knowledge of broadcast-related equipment and principles of operation, including local area networks and audio-visual systems. The ability to read and understand electronic schematics and experience with maintenance equipment is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and possess strong communication and teamwork skills.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Further technical qualifications or certifications in broadcast technology or related fields may be advantageous but are not explicitly stated as requirements.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least seven years of experience in broadcast and conference operations or a related area. This includes a minimum of five years working as a broadcast and conference operations technician, with experience in diagnosing and repairing broadcast equipment. Experience in data analytics and working with video conferencing and audio-visual systems is also beneficial.

Languages:
English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, and proficiency in French may be considered an asset but is not mandatory for this role.

This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning candidates must be based in the country or within commuting distance of the office. The position is temporarily available until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. Selected candidates who are current UN staff members will be considered for a temporary assignment.
