Job Overview:
The Research Analyst-WASH position is a critical role within the UNDP, focusing on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives. The primary function of this position is to conduct thorough research and analysis related to WASH programs, contributing to the development and implementation of effective strategies that address water and sanitation issues in Pakistan. The role requires a deep understanding of the WASH sector, including current challenges, best practices, and innovative solutions. The Research Analyst will be expected to collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to gather data, assess needs, and evaluate the impact of WASH interventions. This position also involves preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and partners, ensuring that the insights gained from research inform policy and program decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Research Analyst-WASH include but are not limited to: conducting comprehensive research on WASH-related topics, analyzing data to identify trends and challenges, preparing detailed reports and presentations based on research findings, collaborating with stakeholders to gather information and insights, evaluating the effectiveness of existing WASH programs and initiatives, providing recommendations for improvements based on research outcomes, participating in meetings and workshops to discuss WASH issues and strategies, and contributing to the development of new WASH projects and proposals. The Research Analyst will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the WASH sector and ensuring that all research activities align with UNDP's goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights. Proficiency in research methodologies and statistical analysis is essential. Additionally, candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling them to effectively convey research findings to diverse audiences. Familiarity with the WASH sector and relevant policies is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is also important for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, public health, social sciences, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree in a relevant area is preferred and may be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a strong academic background that demonstrates their understanding of WASH issues and research methodologies.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in research, analysis, or a related field, preferably within the WASH sector or development context. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is highly valued. Demonstrated experience in conducting research and producing high-quality reports is essential for this position.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Pakistan is considered an asset, as it may facilitate better engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 240 days spread over 12 months. The role is expected to be full-time, and candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively with various stakeholders in the WASH sector.
