Job Overview: The International UN Volunteer - Women Peace and Security Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women’s efforts in Afghanistan, particularly in the area of Women Peace and Security (WPS). The position involves engaging with civil society and government counterparts to coordinate and monitor UN Women interventions. The analyst will work under the guidance of the Country Representative and Deputy Representative, reporting directly to the Head of the WPS Thematic Area. The analyst will also contribute to the development of strategies and initiatives aimed at empowering women economically and socially, particularly in the context of Afghanistan's complex humanitarian crisis.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International UN Volunteer include mapping and identifying private sector partners, developing a Private Sector Engagement Strategy, building partnerships with stakeholders, organizing networking events, designing training modules based on Women Empowerment Principles, conducting assessments to support women entrepreneurs, contributing to joint initiatives with other UN Agencies, developing knowledge products, and creating monitoring frameworks to track progress. The volunteer will also document success stories and lessons learned, providing recommendations for programming and integrated initiatives. Additionally, the volunteer is encouraged to engage with local communities and promote volunteerism through various activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A deep understanding of gender issues, particularly in the context of Afghanistan, is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in private sector engagement, capacity building, and program development. Familiarity with the Women Empowerment Principles and experience in monitoring and evaluation are also required. Educational Background: A university degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in gender equality, women's empowerment, or related fields. The role is non-family, and accommodation is provided in UN-approved premises. Volunteers must be prepared for challenging living conditions and limited movement outside secure compounds. Living allowances are provided in US dollars, and bank transfers to accounts abroad are possible.
