Job Overview: The consultant will be responsible for designing and delivering a three-day training program focused on gender-based violence (GBV) case management for female lawyers and department directors from the Galmudug Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs. This training aims to enhance the capacity of legal professionals in managing GBV cases effectively, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide survivor-centered support. The training will take place in Dhuusamareeb from May 10 to May 12, 2026, and will cover essential topics such as GBV concepts, legal procedures, evidence handling, and coordination with service providers. The consultant will also be tasked with assessing the training's effectiveness through pre- and post-training evaluations and producing a comprehensive report summarizing the outcomes and recommendations for future training initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a structured GBV case management training curriculum tailored to the Galmudug context, integrating international and national GBV frameworks, survivor-centered principles, and ethical standards.
Deliver a three-day in-person training for 15 participants, facilitating sessions on GBV concepts, legal procedures, evidence handling, and referral pathways.
Design and administer pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate changes in participants' knowledge and skills.
Analyze and summarize learning outcomes, producing a concise training report that includes training content, participant profiles, attendance, and key outcomes.
Collaborate with UN Women to refine training content and ensure alignment with organizational standards and objectives.
Maintain professional integrity and confidentiality throughout the training process, adhering to do-no-harm principles.
Required Qualifications:
Education: A Master's degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, with a strong expertise in Gender. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in GBV case management and legal response to GBV, along with 5 years of experience in training or facilitation, preferably with legal professionals. A strong preference for candidates with local knowledge of Galmudug or contextual understanding of the region.
Skills: Excellent analytical skills, ability to work independently, and experience working with multi-stakeholder organizations, including governments and NGOs. Strong English communication and writing skills are essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in fields such as International Development, Human Rights, Law, or related disciplines. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of GBV and the legal frameworks surrounding it.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in GBV case management and legal responses to GBV incidents. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in training or facilitation, ideally with a focus on legal professionals. Preference will be given to those who have local knowledge of the Galmudug region or have demonstrated contextual understanding of the challenges faced in this area. Experience working with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and international institutions, is also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Somali is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication during the training sessions and for producing reports and documentation related to the training outcomes. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
