Job Overview: The Regional Project Coordinator will lead the strategic direction and comprehensive management of the care project titled 'Transforming economies. Towards the Recognition, Reduction and Redistribution of Unpaid Domestic and Care Work in Latin America and the Caribbean.' This role involves coordinating the implementation of programmed care activities, ensuring that they align with the approved Project Document and other relevant guidelines. The Coordinator will work closely with the Women’s Economic Empowerment team and country offices in Latin America and the Caribbean, maintaining communication with national and local partner institutions to ensure effective project execution. The position requires travel within the region and entails significant independent judgment in managing project activities and achieving results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the comprehensive management of the care project at the regional level, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the implementation of activities.
Collaborate with country offices to develop and implement Annual Work Plans, evaluating progress and providing technical guidance.
Establish coordination mechanisms between countries and levels of work, ensuring effective communication and articulation of actions.
Build and maintain strategic alliances with institutional partners and key actors, creating synergies with other donor initiatives.
Lead inter-agency relations and participate in dialogue spaces such as technical meetings and workshops.
Develop and implement communication and advocacy strategies to highlight project results.
Provide technical advisory support to country offices and partners in developing care systems and policies.
Manage the reporting of the care project, ensuring compliance with UN Women and donor requirements. 1
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, public administration, public policy, economy, international cooperation, or a relevant social science field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of gender equality and women’s empowerment issues, as well as experience in program development and delivery, results-based management, and reporting.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required for this position. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The educational background should ideally focus on international development, public administration, public policy, economy, or international cooperation.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the design, support, implementation, or evaluation of public administration and policies, or in international cooperation. Experience in gender equality issues, particularly in the area of care and social protection, is essential. Familiarity with international organizations and cooperation in the Latin America and Caribbean region is required, along with experience in delivering capacity-building activities. Experience working in gender equality and women’s rights at the international level is desirable, as is experience within the UN system or related agencies in developing countries.
Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory for this position. Fluency in Portuguese is desirable, and knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is also considered an asset.
