Job Overview: The International Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing women's political participation in Kazakhstan, particularly in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections in 202
The consultant will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, practice-oriented training aimed at strengthening the leadership, communication, and campaign skills of women candidates. This position requires a deep understanding of women's political participation programs and election campaign training, as well as the ability to adapt international best practices to the local context. The consultant will work closely with UN Women and national partners to ensure that the training is effective and meets the needs of the participants, ultimately contributing to increased representation of women in political decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for several key deliverables:
Design a comprehensive training package using UN Women’s methodological guidelines tailored for women candidates nominated by political parties.
Facilitate two 3-day intensive training sessions in Astana and Almaty for up to 60 women participants, focusing on leadership, communication, and campaign skills.
Introduce practical tools and simulation exercises, including mock debates and public speaking exercises, to enhance the application of knowledge in real electoral contexts.
Integrate international best practices and comparative experiences from other countries to adapt them to the Kazakhstan context.
Provide expert advice on strengthening women's participation in political processes and improving training approaches based on lessons learned during the sessions.
Ensure mentoring support for training participants by engaging graduates of previous Training of Trainers (ToT) programs.
Prepare a high-quality training package compliant with UN Women branding guidelines for future use and dissemination.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in political science, international relations, education, pedagogy, law, gender studies, economic/social sciences, or related interdisciplinary fields. Additionally, they should have at least 5 years of professional experience in politics, women's political participation, or gender equality. Experience in conducting seminars and trainings on women's political participation and election campaign training is essential. Proven experience working with UN agencies, governments, or international organizations is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree in relevant fields such as political science, international relations, education and pedagogy, law/jurisprudence, gender studies, or economic/social sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender equality and women's empowerment in political contexts.
Experience: The consultant should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the fields of politics, women's political participation, and gender equality. This experience should include conducting seminars and trainings focused on women's political participation and election campaign training, as well as leadership development programs. Experience working with UN agencies, governments, or international organizations is highly desirable and will enhance the consultant's ability to deliver effective training.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken Russian is mandatory for this position, as the final report must be submitted in Russian. A working knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication and access to additional resources and training materials.
Additional Notes: The consultant will work remotely but is expected to conduct two 3-day training sessions in Astana and Almaty. All travel expenses will be covered in the contract sum. The position is part-time and project-based, with a focus on delivering high-quality training in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
