Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in reviewing and managing the design process for UN Women's Strategic Note (SN) for Mozambique, covering the period from 2023 to 2026 and leading into the development of the 2027-2030 SN. The consultant will be responsible for conducting a desk review of key documents, facilitating consultations with stakeholders, and drafting the Strategic Note in accordance with UN Women guidelines. The role demands strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable strategies that align with UN Women’s mission and the specific needs of Mozambique.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's responsibilities include conducting a comprehensive desk review of evaluations, monitoring data, and audit reports to assess the progress of the current Strategic Note. They will facilitate consultations with key stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and private sector representatives, to validate findings and gather insights on gender equality gaps and priorities. The consultant will collaborate with the UN Women team to develop session agendas, facilitate workshops, and draft the Strategic Note, ensuring all components meet UN Women’s standards. They will also prepare validation workshops, incorporate feedback from stakeholders, and finalize the Strategic Note package for submission. Additional tasks may arise as necessary to ensure the successful development of the Strategic Note.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, gender/women’s studies, international development, international relations, programme management, public policy, or related fields. They should have at least seven years of professional experience in programme development and implementation, particularly in monitoring and evaluation activities. Experience working on gender equality and women’s empowerment in Africa, especially Mozambique, is essential. Proven expertise in guiding programme reviews and evaluations, as well as knowledge of results-based management and UN planning processes, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to conduct research and write strategic documents.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, gender/women’s studies, international development, international relations, programme management, or public policy is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and the development landscape in Mozambique.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of professional experience in programme development and implementation, with a strong focus on monitoring and evaluation.
