Job Overview: The Safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of safety and security policies across all operations in South Sudan. This position serves as the primary advisor to senior management on security matters, leveraging extensive expertise to provide strategic guidance on a wide array of issues. The role is vital in ensuring alignment with global security risk management strategies and supports program continuity in dynamic and potentially extreme environments. The incumbent will coordinate closely with the Regional Security Manager for technical guidance and strategic alignment, ensuring that security measures are effectively integrated into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and operational planning.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating security programs that address various issues, including privacy, physical security, investigations, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include: managing security professionals and vendors to safeguard company assets and ensure the safety of employees and visitors; conducting security risk assessments and providing actionable recommendations; developing and maintaining country-specific security management plans; overseeing physical security measures for offices and personnel; supervising security guards to ensure compliance with standards; serving as a core member of the Incident Management Team; ensuring timely reporting of security incidents; leading the development of evacuation and medical emergency plans; conducting safety and security training for staff; representing FHI 360 in security coordination forums; and establishing communication infrastructure for emergency response.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the protective service industry, government security directives, and classified contract processes. Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop context-specific security strategies are essential. The role requires demonstrated project management skills for both long- and short-term projects, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with all departments. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is also crucial, along with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to crisis situations.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Peace & Security, International Relations, or a related field is required, with a master’s degree preferred but not mandatory. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of security management in international contexts.
Experience: A minimum of 6+ years of experience managing security for international organizations in complex environments is required. Candidates should have proven experience in security training and capacity building, as well as experience in humanitarian operations and insecure settings. Prior experience with NGOs, government agencies, or private sector security roles is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Juba Arabic or other local languages is highly desirable, especially for roles that involve direct engagement with local communities, as it enhances communication and relationship-building efforts.
Additional Notes: The role requires flexibility, discretion, and the ability to operate independently in high-pressure environments. South Sudanese nationals are encouraged to apply. The expected hiring range for this role is equivalent to USD 30,000 - 45,000 annually for basic salary.
