Job Overview:
The Project Manager position is a critical role within the Global Corporate Solutions and Corporate Real Estate division of the World Bank Group. Reporting directly to the Senior Program Manager of Project Management in the GCSHQ Real Estate Development and Management section, the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of base building capital improvement projects from inception to completion. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of project management principles, as the Project Manager will manage capital and overhead projects valued up to $30 million. The position demands collaboration with various internal units, including Budget, Planning and Strategy, Procurement, and Information Technology, to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and effectively throughout their life cycle. The Project Manager will also be tasked with developing project-specific proposals, coordinating with Building Managers and Engineers, and ensuring that projects meet the necessary design and execution standards to maintain optimal working conditions for building occupants. This position is based in Washington, DC, and plays a vital role in supporting the World Bank Group's mission to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: managing capital and overhead projects up to $30 million, determining project scope and resource requirements, developing initial cost estimates, and mobilizing resources from within and outside the Bank. The Project Manager will work closely with internal units to ensure projects receive the necessary clearances during each phase of the project life cycle. Additionally, the role involves developing project-specific proposals in coordination with Building Managers and Engineers, leading the planning, design, and construction process, and ensuring that projects are completed in a coordinated manner. The Project Manager will also support the selection of design consultants and contractors, manage project budgets and schedules, and oversee post-occupancy activities. Furthermore, the Project Manager will maintain project documentation, provide progress updates, and coordinate with other Project Managers to leverage synergies across projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Project Manager position must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Architecture, Business, Interior Design, or Construction Management, along with at least 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have strong financial management skills, including cost analysis, budget planning, and procurement experience. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage multi-discipline programs, conceptualize and implement projects, and produce complex reports related to capital improvement projects. Leadership skills are essential, as the Project Manager will lead a team of professionals and contract staff in executing complex projects. The ability to respond quickly to urgent project site issues is also crucial.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in project management principles, design, and construction processes.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, particularly in the fields of engineering, architecture, or construction management. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing capital improvement projects, demonstrating leadership and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Experience in financial management, procurement, and contract management is also essential.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, although not explicitly required.
